Windy Spot Ranch The Windy Spot Ranch, consisting of approximately 62 acres, was purchased in the fall of 1998. The property is located on the southern border of Washington County, approximately 70 miles northwest of downtown Houston.

The owners Don and Vicki Hilton, after buying the property, proceeded to clear it for cattle production.

Conditions required that a right of way be cleared, all existing fencing be removed, and a tremendous amount of general cleaning up be done.

Construction of the house was begun in October of 1999. The home, built on a concrete foundation, is constructed of steel framing with conventional siding and roofing materials. At approximately 2200 sq. ft. it has three bedrooms, two and one half baths, with formal dining and office space. Along side the house is a 30 ft x 60 ft garage / carport combination which includes a game room, work shop and bath.

An equipment and animal shelter barn, has been built along with the completion of perimeter fencing of the pastures.

The first Santa Gertrudis cattle were introduced to the property in March of 2000 and the herd has been increasing ever since.

The Hiltons decided on Santa Gertrudis cattle because of the performance of the breed, the strong breed association and the breed's proud Texas history.

With a yard around the house of about 2 acres, a flood plain area of about 10 acres along Caney Creek ( used for hay production ), four main pasture areas ( 16, 11, 8, 15 acres ), and an approximately 2 acre sized electric fenced bull area the property is being fully used.

The barn includes equipment storage, working corrals, squeeze chute, and palpation cage.
